Back in July, I got home from a 14 hour work shift and literally every single item I owned was gone. And I mean everything. Groceries, clothes, medication, pet supplies, EVERYTHING. I had just moved into my new apartment one month prior, so I didnāt have any furniture. They locked my cat in the bathroom closet. She is safe, was just so scared :( my dog was with a friend of mine during that time fortunately.
Turns out, my buildings landlord company had ordered for squatter removal (I live in Memphis, so we do have a very high homeless population) and the company he hired got my unit mixed up with a different unit :/ they threw everything I owned away in a city dump that same day. I was genuinely distraught, and didnāt even know I could react to something the way I reacted to that. I am 23 years old, and I make about $16 dollars an hour at my job. I have no savings.
They owned up to their mistake, but declined the amount I asked from them (~$17500) which was a number gathered from a list I made of everything I owned WITH online purchase receipts for most things.
I have a lawyer (one of the ones that get paid with your earnings from your case !!!!) but the landlord company doesnāt really seem to want to pay what im asking, so we will probably have to go to trial. She told me itās going to take AT LEAST a year.
I was homeless/couch surfing for about a month because my unit was inhabitable (I got burglarized by homeless people in August there as well due to a broken window lock the moving company did when they took all my stuff out in July) and I still had to pay the rent to avoid eviction. I had to get my lawyer to send a demand letter for them to allow me to break the lease.
Iām fortunate a coworker of mine had a room available for rent in their house, $800 a month plus utilities, but im barely scraping by. I canāt save anything because I have to rebuy things like clothing and even contacts and glasses and cat litter and cat food blah blah. It is so hard to get ahead when youāre so behind.
Just wanted to rant about it. Itās now almost November and im really feeling everything now. Attached is a photo of the burglary caused by homeless people in August. I legit got burglarized by people who had more than me.

So I'm 36 years old and I have plenty of dating experience. Lots of short term relationships... a few long term relationships.
I've noticed a trend with dates I've been going on of late. I've been on 3 dates in the last month or so... the women have been 34, 36 and 37. In each of the dates they press me very hard about my dating history.
I answer concisely and tbh... they haven't really earned the right be privy to an in-depth answer to such a question.
The hilarity is that when I simply ask them about theirs... they act offended and avoid answering the question.
It almost feels like a guy at this age needs to have a sermon prepared as to why he's single but women think that their story doesn't matter?
The last woman I went on a date with kept talking about how she needs a guy who isn't going to jump ship at 40 for the "next hottest Hinge match." Yet when I asked her about her dating history she didn't talk about what led to this concern...
Idk... I'm just getting tired of the hypocrisy.

Putting updates at the top:
Update : second vet said itās basically terrible, 50/50 chance of survival. He has jaundice and his gums are yellow, extremely high fever and showing signs of liver failure. Said possibly either FIV or FIP. Said he would need extensive care to recover and itās not guaranteed. Multiple days of hospitalization plus further tests would cost around $3,500 overall. We decided to go with the blood tests / X-rays to atleast know what it could be. I am at a loss.
Final update for now: blood work and X-ray showed anemia , low blood cell count and extreme fluid in the stomach, a bunch of other words I didnāt really understand but the doctor said itās most likely FIP from what he can see, weāre sending the fluid to get lab tested to confirm itās FIP. vet said he needs extensive care and is in a critical condition. Heās currently being hospitalized for a minimum of 3 days and will be getting fed through syringe and tube if needed and will have IV fluids. Once test is confirmed he will start treatment. He said itās still a 50/50 chance he makes it but Iād rather try and know I did the best I could than not.
Iām honestly devastated and confused right now, and Iām hoping someone here has experienced something similar.
We got our kitten, Otis, on October 11. Heās only 3 months old, and up until his first vet visit, he was a completely normal, happy, energetic kitten. He was eating and drinking A LOT (multiple bowls of food and water a day), playing, and acting completely fine.
The only issue was that his stool was consistently runny and sometimes left streaks behind. So we took him to the vet for a regular checkup, vaccines, and to figure out what was causing it.
The vet gave him a deworming pill and medication for his diarrhea.
Everything changed after he took that pill.
He went from eating and drinking constantly to barely touching either. Itās now been FOUR DAYS of him barely eating or drinking. Heāll occasionally drink tiny amounts of water and take a few bites if I hand-feed him, but thatās it. He sleeps almost the entire day, has no energy, and is completely unrecognizable compared to the kitten we brought home.
We took him back to the vet today, and we were told we basically have two options: put him down or pay $1,500 for diagnostic tests to figure out whatās wrong.
Iām choosing to do the tests because I just canāt bring myself to put down a 3-month-old kitten who seemed perfectly healthy only days ago without even knowing whatās wrong.
What I canāt understand is how we went from having a kitten whose only noticeable issue was loose stool to being told he might need to be euthanized just days after a routine vet visit.
Has anyone experienced anything similar after their kitten was given deworming or diarrhea medication? Could this be a reaction, an underlying illness, or something else entirely?
Iām not necessarily blaming the vet or saying the medication caused this, but the timing is really hard to ignore.
Iām terrified of losing him. Weāve barely had him for two weeks, and I never imagined weād be facing something like this so soon.
TLDR: My previously healthy, energetic 3-month-old kitten went to the vet for a routine checkup, vaccines, and loose stool. After being given deworming and diarrhea medication, he suddenly stopped eating and drinking normally, became extremely lethargic, and hasnāt been himself for four days. The vet is now suggesting euthanasia or $1,500 in diagnostic tests. Weāre choosing the tests, but Iām desperate to understand what could have caused such a sudden decline. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
Also we had to pay $120 for him to tell us that ā¦
These are the meds on the paper we have from the first visit:
**1. Pro Care + GI Canine/Feline (Probiotic)** ā Mix ½ packet with wet food once daily until finished.
**2. Metronidazole Suspension 100 mg/mL (Antibiotic)** ā Give 0.4 mL by mouth with food twice daily for 7 days.
**3. Milbemax 16 mg Tablet (Dewormer)** ā Give by mouth with food for intestinal deworming. (Dose not specified on the sheet.)
Edit: weāre taking him to a different emergency vet to get fluids and check upā¦which is half the price of the first vets quote

In 1998, Icelandic electrician Guưmundur Felix GrƩtarsson lost both arms following a devastating accident involving an 11,000-volt power line.
For 23 years, he lived without arms, unable to hug his daughters or perform everyday tasks independently. In January 2021, surgeons in Lyon, France, performed a groundbreaking operation, giving Felix the world's first double arm transplant involving the shoulders.
Following months of rehabilitation, Felix gradually regained movement and achieved something he had waited more than two decades for: hugging his daughters and grandchildren again.
He has since regained the ability to perform everyday activities, including brushing his teeth, dressing himself, and holding a glass.
