Teddy (19) crossed over yesterday and my wife and I are devastated.
Teddy, assumed about 19, shared his last day with us on the 29th. It really feels like things have gotten grayer since.
I got Teddy 12 years ago when I was finishing college and he had travelled with me ever since. He was always an ornery cat who loved attention and would purr so loud but was quick to let you know with a swat when he had enough.
He had been sick since a mysterious illness kicked off weight loss and fatty liver disease in 2023 but had been supported by anti inflammatories that kept him feeling alright, and Solensia towards the end for joint pain. Finally two weeks ago he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and diabetes and we knew it was his time.
Our hearts our truly broken knowing he isn’t going to be tapping at our legs for treats or yelling at the door to go eat grass anymore, but we are forever grateful for the years we had with him and getting to peacefully say goodbye at home.
We love you Teddy.

Goodbye Little Miss
After almost 17 years I had to let little miss go over the rainbow bridge. She's been my constant companion and lived so much of my life with me (46.9% of my life to precise). My heart is aching but I know it was the right thing to do. Some of my favorite miss stories: when I had my first child, she learned how to imitate the sound of the baby crying and she would get a toy in her mouth and make the noises and we would think it was the baby! It was wild! Another time she got locked out on our third floor balcony, and we didn't know it. The next day we were looking for her, and I went down the fire escape and called her name. She popped out of the bushes covered in leaves and meowed! She was a very chatty cat. She moved with us 8 times over the years. I love her so much. I hope she is watching over me now.

I can’t believe this subreddit exists…
I spent all of my summer and early autumn painting a cats on quilts series, and recently, someone told me about this subreddit. So delighted by all of your very adorable quilting assistants!!
Hand painted using gouache, poster color, pencil, and oil pastel on 16x16’’ wood panel.
