Discussion For all the talk on hardware, perhaps this would be a good time to notice that the software isn't very polished either anymore (barring the aesthetics)
I'll draw comparison to explain myself (never been done before, I know).
Years ago Android was characterised by it's need to download and install 3rd party apps for doing the basic things because the native apps were so immature.
So that is the yardstick by which I measure how good the software is - if you can just use the device as it came, it means the software is good and fulfills your needs.
In iOS and ipadOS the situation is somewhat different of late and I won't even get into gmaps over apple maps or chrome over Safari. I'll let them come under personal preferences.
But typing is universal if you have to interact with your device. And Gboard has become the keyboard to go to. Just has more features. You can swipe to type and also swipe to delete (swipe to delete is not available in apple keyboard)
2nd, and this is probably more of a thing for ipadOS - a PDF reader file, I prefer pdf expert, always HAS to be downloaded if you wish to read PDFs on your iPad without losing your mind. Impossible to scroll easily across many pages at once in the preview app on iPad, the app doesn't remember what page you're on, the search function doesn't show where it found the word (the word is always slightly above the top bezel, so you have to scroll down to find it)
So unpolished, no attention to detail, like it's all shipped without checking.
Rant over.
