Testing my compressible solver in a more down to earth situation...

Ever since this subreddit started getting more traction, more and more people began posting non-simulation videos. In each of these posts, users will comment something along the lines of "This is not a simulation," and an argument would ensue. So I am writing this post to, hopefully, end this never-ending cycle. I hope the mods do not remove this post, because I think it could end much of the hostility in the comments around here. Perhaps this could even be a stickied post, so all new users see it.
According to the dictionary, the word simulation is defined as, "imitation of a situation or process." However, this definition does not actually constitute what a simulation is in the world of CGI. In CGI, simulations are essentially visualizations of real-world processes that are generated using mathematical models. That is to say, the final product of a simulation is something that was created using fundamental rules of nature or some system, such as Newton's Laws of Motion, Fluid Dynamics, or various other mathematical models. In a simulation, it is often the case that each frame was created by manipulating information from the previous frame.
It's quite common for animations and simulations to coexist in one medium. There are plenty of simulated components in animated movies, such as Disney's Frozen (Snow simulation), and Hotel Transylvania 2 (Cloth simulation). However, simulations and animations individually are very different by nature. As previously stated, simulations try to model real-world processes, and use mathematical models to generate necessary data. Animations, on the other hand, are usually created through a manual process. Animators manually keyframe the attributes (position, rotation, scale, etc.) of objects in a 3D scene. It's possible for manual animations to look convincing, but that does not make them simulations.
Many 3D rendering engines use a process called "ray tracing" to create images of a 3D scene. For anyone who is unfamiliar with ray tracing, here is the definition from Wikipedia:
In computer graphics, ray tracing is a rendering) technique for generating an image by tracing the path of light as pixels in an image plane and simulating the effects of its encounters with virtual objects.
Because of this definition, many people argue that any 3D render is a simulation, so long as it was rendered using ray tracing. By definition, it is true that the process of ray tracing is a simulation. However, this argument is very silly because the entire purpose of the term "simulation" in CGI is to make a distinction between what is manually created, and what is created using the previously talked about mathematical models. Therefore, when we discuss simulated graphics, ray tracing is not considered a simulated process.
Many of these animated posts accumulate upvotes, and sometimes they stick around for a few days before getting removed. Because of this, new users who see these posts get a false idea of what a simulation actually is. Hopefully this post was informative to any newcomers. If you would like to suggest edits, please comment.

Every cube (voxel) is individually simulated, with a total of 2,097,152 cubes in a 128×128×128 grid.
Its all about unlocking different cube types using reactions, temperature, pressure, and collisions.
You can try out the free demo on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4419760/Falling_Cubes/
Feedback is much appreciated! especially if your pc is below the system requirements and the game still runs fine during larger simulations with lots of moving and interacting cubes.

A C++ falling-sand simulation running through GDExtension, rendered in Godot with refractive glass. This is one of the designs from my Windows desktop hourglass project. Does the red read as sand, or more like liquid?
Rainy-window background by FadingPixels (jaymeehuynh), CC0: https://opengameart.org/content/animated-lofi-pixel-art-background-320x180
This simulation is part of Desktop Hourglass, which I’m making for Windows. Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5433520/Desktop_Hourglass/

Each crab is a separate MuJoCo simulation of KingKong’s open-source Jumper robot trained to walk with RL. I made this and another video with 11,904 crabs for their open source challenge.
My original vid on YT: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/HFBJltu9Y7U
Another one with 11,904 robot crabs: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qiCtP5Hpxmo
Code: github.com/shauryasen/crab
Any ideas for what else I should have the crab swarms do?

A galaxy collision sim I put together with SenseNova 6.8 Code2Video. Every star is pulled around by the two galaxy cores (the stars don't pull on each other, the classic restricted N-body shortcut), so the long tails and the bridge between the galaxies come straight out of the physics.

This is one run of a world sim I've been building. Each nation has a leader with a temperament that decides who it trusts, when it goes to war and when it makes peace. Empires that grow too big split in civil wars, allies trade, and nations left in peace long enough get a golden age. 100 years in about 40 seconds. It runs in the browser and is free if anyone wants to make their own... https://secondstrike.io. Every run is a link, so anyone who opens it gets the exact same world.

Particle sim of a slowly rotating cloud core collapsing from the inside out. Angular momentum piles the infalling gas into a flared disk around the protostar, and some of what the star swallows gets launched as two jets; the pink knots are H-alpha shock fronts. The bright moments are episodic accretion bursts, which fire every few seconds once the protostar exists. Late in the run the envelope has fallen in or blown clear, which is why the frame darkens around the star. 16 s of the clip is roughly 100,000 years. Rendered offline from my engine's Mac harness at 4K/60, with nothing audio-reactive running.

Hi! Last 20 years my lab has been writting specialized flow solvers for particular problems. Modernest tooling and LLM-assisted dev finally made it practical to generalise stable codes into a unified solution [Prelimina](https://www.prelimina.com/).
Currently, the FLIP solver backend is stable, while FVM and the implicit-Lagrangian one are finalising conversion soon. To my knowledge, FLIP is the fastest among competition and FVM will be as well :)
All solver backends use the same motion-loving case description, and they run as GUI app, or in terminal, or in the browser: https://www.prelimina.com/app
Due to recent AI slops etc, here's my disclaimer: the core solvers are almost fully human writtenand have been used in marine, auto, pharma, mining, etc. industries, while GUI may be sloppish at the moment.
In any case, we'd appreciate feedback and criticism.

Can a computer-designed protein survive heat?
I ran real MD on Top7 (Baker lab, 2003; PDB 1QYS) in GROMACS: 100 ps at 300 K vs 400 K.
Backbone RMSD 1.49 vs 1.72 Å, ~57 vs ~56 H-bonds kept. The fold held.
Short run: a sanity check, not a melting test. love to take the feedback guys !!!!!!!

I'm actively looking for harsh, unvarnished feedback on version 0.9.9 of my medical body simulation (SOMA Body Lab).
Specifically looking for critique on: 1. Operating table UI: do the surgical instruments (anaesthesia, scalpel, sutures) feel intuitive or frustrating? 2. Patient monitor: does the vital sign telemetry (HR, BP, SpO2) communicate patient urgency clearly? 3. Ragdoll weight: do the physical reactions to trauma look believable or too floaty?
Demo 0.9.9 is free for PC on itch.io — link in the comments. All feedback is read and incorporated into the next patch.

Every shot is rendered live (R3F + three.js). Pause anywhere and the camera's yours: orbit the car, walk the street, look around his room. Motion is phone-video mocap fitted to SMPL-X. Phones get a recording captured from the live scene and can still step in.

Didn't see anything fitting Unity so added Proprietary Software tag
A simple water sim that uses FLIP water solver which I implemented with the help of Ten Minute Physics video on the same topic. I used metaballs to make it continous rather than individual particles, and allowed it to interact with windows with some floating objects.
There is a demo of the same I have on itchio : https://tornadosike.itch.io/desktop-under-water
Currently only for windows tho

This procedural generator simulates volumetric soil/moisture/wind/sun history to generate trees. The generation also handles LOD with a hierarchical DAG with hundreds of available LOD layers from 10million+ polys to 100, followed by automated imposters and then billboards. Currently able to handle forests of 10k unique trees with low end GPU, and working on getting 1 million tree forests running on mid hardware.

Made in TouchDesigner as part of the POPtober challenge. Today's POP: subdivide POP. I didn't actually use the subdivide POP, but rather had a fixed number of vertices of which active faces can be subdivided by activating an available inactive vertex and making new faces.

Dunarium runs a real-time grain simulation on the phone. Tilting the device drives live gravity on the sand, and gel and bubbles react as it moves. Each frame comes straight from the simulation. Ask if you want the approach behind it. Links are in a comment for anyone who wants to try it.

3 species hunters, fast explorers, plant eaters evolve on their own, nobody controls them. every creature has ~24 genes, babies inherit them with small mutations, and there are seasons, droughts, diseases and new species splitting off
this clip is the end of a round in winter, the plant eaters wiped out the hunters and only 3 explorers were left
runs on a pi 5 and streams live, chat can pick a side twitch.tv/edenevolutionwars
