Hello all,

I have been having this issue for a while on PS. In the screenshots, i'm using the Lasso, Selection Brush, and Quick selection tool. As soon as I click once or hold a click, it goes all over the place as you can see and I can't stop it from doing this every time. Anyone else experience this? Thanks!

Help! How to avoid these specks while pixelating an image?

This is the photo generated through Nano Banana Pro.
This is after I pixelated it with Photoshop.

I want some high-quality pixelated images for a project. I tried creating this map in Nano Banana, and it gets the images just as I want them. However, it is not a real pixelated image (soft edges on pixels, inconsistent pixel shapes, etc.). Also, Nano Banana does not give me 4k photos. Hence, I tried taking those 2k images from Nano Banana and putting them in Photoshop to make them actual pixel-art-style photos.

The steps I took:
Posterize the image from the adjustment panel. Reduced the steps to ~10.
Image Resize and set the resolution to 16. Resample > Nearest Neighbour (hard edges)
image > Mode > Indexed Colour> set number of colours to 16.

The second image is after I ran these steps. I am getting these ugly specks of pixels mixed together rather than one solid colour. How to fix these? Please help.

PS: I used this tutorial for this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWR4PgysghE

Hello! I am working on a personal project and was taking inspiration from this movie poster for Fronte del Porto (1960), and was struggling to find a good overlay or replicate the white border around it for my project. So I wasn't sure if anyone had some good overlays I could layer or tips to help me achieve this kind of goal?

Solved PS exporting image larger than dimensions I set it to?

I’m very new to photoshop and have worked on a small project I need print ready for DTF printing for shirts. My canvas size is set to A4 dimensions at 300dpi with transparent background. I placed embedded an image and edited it and resized the image to around 8x9cm. I exported it as png but when I went to upload it onto the printing websites it’s showing my image as 29x33cm? Where have I gone wrong and how can I export it the image at the dimensions I want it to be. Thanks for the help and sorry if it’s a dumb question 😊

Discussion Is it a problem to create large-format designs in Photoshop?

I've been studying large-format artwork a bit more lately (trucks, billboards, and so on), and one question I have is: will creating this type of artwork in Photoshop cause me a lot of problems?

I see a lot of people saying that you should never create this kind of artwork in Photoshop, but at the same time, I see plenty of people doing it (especially since some effects are a bit more tedious to recreate in Illustrator). Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Help! Can you tell me how I can recreate this effect with Botticelli´s painting?

I think that it might be difficult considering that it is a painting and the current object with these effects is an object/subject in a photo.

Help! Is Photoshop supposed to run like shit on laptops?

Hi all. I've used Photoshop for over a decade, so I expect pain points when using this cursed program. But I’ve hit a new low with a brand new laptop. It should easily outperform my 4–6 year old desktop, but it doesn't.

Photoshop works fine for a few minutes, then lags like crazy. I'm working with 215 MB and 319 MB file sizes. My older desktop handles them no problem, but the laptop chokes.

So what is going on? Can anyone help me figure out how to get my laptop to run smoother with Photoshop?

Here are the Laptop and Desktop specs:

Laptop:

  • Laptop Model: Lenovo Legion 7 16IAX10
  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 275HX (2.70 GHz)
  • Installed RAM: 32.0 GB (31.4 GB usable)
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU (8 GB) / Intel(R) Graphics (128 MB)
  • Storage: 196 GB used of 954 GB total
  • Windows 11 Home

Desktop:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12 - Core Processor
  • Installed RAM: 32.0 GB
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
  • Storarge: 1.93 TB
  • Windows 11 Home

Help! Photoshop is showing dull colors once I open a file

I have been using the same main monitor for four years now and I have never had an issues with looking at images. However, after recently installing a new CPU Cooler that has an LCD screen I noticed all of the images I view in Photoshop (they are art images) look dull and washed out.

I have checked the color profile (sRGB like it always was) and the images display normally in other image viewing applications. When I turn off HDR the images display correctly in Photoshop. The images only are dull in Photoshop when HDR is on, they look fine in other applications AND during the photoshop preview thumbnails. Only once you open they image does it look like a huge greyish filter is over it.

This persists even when I calibrated my monitor. Never had this issue ever and it seemed to pop right when I have this extra display from the cooler. Can anyone help?

EDIT:

Windows Color Profile - Photoshop Mismatch Fix (Janky)

  1. Turn off all displays except main
  2. Connect second display, Main Display Profile will correct
  3. Open PSD in Photoshop
  4. Connect third display (Cooler LCD)

Note 1: BIOS seems to have a right to left GPU input priority when booting up. But Windows has a left to right GPU input priority. I believe these mismatches is why Windows and Photoshop specifically struggles to pull the right color profile on startup.

Note 2: Once you do this fix once the color profiles will stay the same on restart, but Photoshop still will pull on the Cooler LCD I believe due to port priority within the program. Photoshop doesn't seem to handle three monitors well like it does for two monitors.

If anyone finds more information on how Photoshop is pulling Color profiles from different monitors please let me know.

Help! Does anyone know how to get this look?

I see so many pages doing this type of work, not one page has a tutorial on their workflow. I’d love to make something like this but don’t know how to begin. Can’t find the right assets, can’t figure out how to blend things together as good as them, how to get the colors right etc. I don’t even know what “aesthetic” this is called to begin searching up how to do it. HELP!!

Help! Can't uninstall Photoshop.

Hello. This is kind of a tech issue. I'm a graphic design student, however I've graduated a while ago. My Adobe account was strictly made by my school and expired a while ago - it no longer exists, as the email to the account got deleted due to my graduation. I still have Photoshop installed, but I have absolutely zero ways to log into my account becouse it simply doesn't exist anymore. It takes 8 GB of my storage and its not a lot, but I would like it gone anyways. How do I delete it?

Help! background saving removed ?

Is background saving removed in the new PS beta?

You used to be able to hit save and continue working. But not anymore.
I hope this isn't a new feature in future versions of Photoshop.

Discussion When AI removes an object from a photo, is it erasing it — or rewriting the scene around it?

I spent years learning all the tricks of the trade for retouching images having been amazed at how it was done when I was a junior designer in London seeing wires and unwanted objects removed after the transparencies were scanned... Magic!

When the Generative Fill, Expand and Remove tools arrive in PhotoShop it almost gave me the same feeling, it looked so easy and so fast...

I tested it on some images I have put off editing as I thought it would simply take too long so here’s what I found...

The first image was to try and ‘finish’ the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona by removing the cranes and some of the construction evidence. I used the lasso tool here mainly and it did a very good job. The only part of the image I will have to do ‘manually’ are where the safety mesh is as the remove tool didn’t seem to understand what it was seeing.

The second image was used to test removing the various untidy and messy street furniture, wires and then people before making any colour editing. The automatic find and remove did an excellent job, the only think it didn’t like was the van in the background so I simply undid the operation and removed it completely. There is an odd block left behind there but the next task would be to simply remove that with the lasso tool.

Cleaning up the Street

Zooming in on both images shows that where the generative removal has taken place there are no unusual artefacts.

I’m an Adobe Community Expert and love testing any new tools in PhotoShop so like to try them on difficult images. Has anyone else tried the remove tools on a complex image with lots of tricky items, especially wires crossing the subject or a detailed background and had success? Please share, it would be great to see.

Help! feedback for a beginner in graphic design (photoshop)

hi everyone, how is it going? my name is gabe, i am a brazilian advertising student in my third semester, and i wanted to share some of my designs with you—they are pretty amateur, just so you know! to give you some context for the right feedback, this project was for an advertising copywriting class. the brief was to create a 3-card instagram grid/carousel to sell a product related to the national artist milton nascimento. my part on the team was to handle this piece. the product itself was fictional: an animated mini-documentary and a collection of vinyl records. the core requirement was to target gen z using a mandatory humorous tone.

since i was going to handle this specific part entirely on my own while my teammates focused on other advertising pieces, i decided to do the copy and design myself from scratch, without using any ai. i really wanted the chance to practice photoshop and sharpen my skills with the software.

i would love to get your feedback based on this brief. i intentionally chose a vintage bistro restaurant concept for the design because i thought it would match the color palette i chose: a "minas gerais terracotta," since milton nascimento is from minas gerais, which i thought was a brilliant tie-in. i felt it fit the artist's aesthetic perfectly and looked great! my only real concern was that it might not resonate with gen z, or worse, that it might not come across as humorous, and my professor is incredibly strict about following the brief.

either way, my designs were ultimately rejected by my team because they were afraid the professor wouldn't like them, claiming they did not appeal to gen z and were not funny enough. they decided to go in a different direction, probably something meme-based, which i honestly found a bit tacky.

knowing that i am a complete beginner, did my design turn out well? what can i improve? i truly want to grow as a designer and artist! what could i have done differently, and what actually worked? i would really appreciate your insights.

Help! at a loss with gradients- surely i am misunderstanding this

i recently spent quite a while working on a hobby project in photoshop, i saved the psd for a while, came back

the colours on the image are completely nuked- they look nothing like the project i was working on, substantially more flattened. apparently this can be an issue with colour profiles not saving properly so i fiddle with that for a while but it's not the case. i do some more digging and supposedly gradients are not saved to the psd file itself, but in a separate local cache.

so apparently whem making a custom gradient, there are two different save buttons? and if you click the wrong one that means it doesn't save permanently, before retroactively deleting itself and rendering the psd file unusable? i'm willing to accept user error causing undesirable effects, but this is beyond the pale- please tell me i'm misunderstanding the situation and it wasn't seriously designed to work this way??? apologies if i am venting frustrations here but its just unimaginable to me that the UX flow on widely used and expensive software can allow clicking the wrong 'save' button on a colour picker to turn your entire project into a timebomb that deletes itself

do i have any options here that aren't just making the whole thing from scratch? is there some recovery option i'm missing?
