Any advice on how to fix this?

It’s a porcelain Bath And Body Works or ceramic has a shiny undercoat with glitter over it wallflower refill spilled all over it and I just found out. Don’t know how long it’s been pouring on it for. I tried to wash it and the glitter is coming off the eyes and nose. It’s leaving the porcelain and nice and shiny no damage to it. I wanted to use nail polish remover or alcohol, but I’m not sure if the white is gonna come off too right now. It seems to just be taking off the glitter, but it’s really hard to come off. I just used hot water, dawn and baking soda.

Monster pot hole keeps getting worse and I dont know how to fix it.

How would you go about fixing a pot hole like this? Its extremely large and deeper than the picture shows. Its probably 20ish feet long a and 5ish inches deep at points. Its a private road and people on this street refuse to get serious about road maintenance. Its getting really bad.

It looked slightly less bad than this picture when we moved in but its getting worse every year. Its in front of my property on this private road and I dont understand Who responsibility for this stuff falls on. There are dozens of houses above me thay use this road every day.

I would be glad to fix it but I do not know how. I could just load it up with cold patch or something but I doubt tha5 would survive the winter. Myself and my neighbor above me have been asking neighbors what they want to do about it and if they'd contribute funding for repairs but no bites. Idk what to do.

I'm trying to mount a shelf below this window, but I cannot comprehend what is going on with the studs. The stud finder works fine on other walls

Serious Answers Only Is it possible to turn a freezer into a fridge? (bought a second hand "fridge" turns out it's a freezer)

I bought what I thought was a mini fridge from an elderly man on facebook marketplace. The listing was labeled as a fridge so I got it for $50. I have a feeling the guy sold it thinking it was a faulty over-powerful fridge... I searched up the model number after having it freeze my soda bottles on the lowest setting. it's a Westinghouse FR91T Vertical Freezer a discontinued model. I and don't need a freezer. I live in disability housing and just wanted a small fridge to store snacks. If i have no other choice and have to sell it and get a real fridge then sure i'll have to, but out of curiosity is it possible to turn a freezer into a fridge? Is this something i can DIY easily or would it not be worth the trouble?

How do I lock this door from the outside?

Some context: you’re probably thinking “there’s already a keyhole on the doorknob, just get a key.” So I’m a college student and this is the door to my bathroom. The other person I used to share the bathroom with has moved out mid-semester, and so this is pretty much my personal bathroom now. I’m out most of the day and Ive noticed that my other two roommates (which im not really friends with) will purposely use my bathroom instead of theirs whenever I’m not there (they’ll leave their clothes, pee on toilet seat, less toilet paper, wet floors, etc.). I’ve mentioned to them that I dont want them continuously using my bathroom and theyre like “yeah for sure!” But after telling them i still notice these signs and keep in mind they are not paying for my toilet paper or contributing any cleaning to my bathroom so I really dont appreciate how much they use it and that there’s virtually no “kind” way to ensure that they dont use it without just locking the door. The keyhole on it is strictly for security staff to use if they need to get in the bathroom, so how else could i lock this door from the outside to prevent people from using up my toilet paper and using my shower when im not there?

How do I make this old gas can useable?

Post image
26 Upvotes

I inherited this old gas can that I'd like to use for gasoline for my lawn mower. It holds liquid. The cap works, but due to its placement, would only be for filling the can, not pouring it out. There are two other possibilities:

\*A black knobby thing that I can't move or twist

\*An old stiff rubber hose

How can I convert this to a useable gas can for filling up a lawn mower?

EDIT Thank you all for the help. I will first check for rust on the inside and then try to sell it. With my massive profits I will then buy a proper can.

picked up the brass door knocker of my dreams at a flea market but it's antique and didn't come with hardware. the base of the knocker has a beveled (?) square edge which makes me think it would be held in place by a plate of some sort, but i don't even know what to call it to search for it. any advice on what parts it needs and how to install it?

I replaced the flapper on my toilet twice and it still won't stop running, what am I missing?

I have already replaced the flapper twice, even tried a different brand, but the toilet still keeps running. The tank fills up, the water reaches the correct line, and then the level slowly drops until the fill valve kicks in again. I am on my third attempt now and starting to think the flapper is not the actual problem. What else should I check before buying more parts?

Serious Answers Only Clean inside an oil radiator

Thumbnail

My landlord gave me this plug in radiator to keep warm, but there is an unpleasant, sweet smell that comes from it when switched on.

I have wiped the outside with anti bacterial liquid, but I can't clean inside. I have wiped inside the top vents, which hasn't made any difference.

LL says the smell is dust and will "burn off" with use. Is this correct?

The smell is permeating my home and I want to be warm.

My kitchen faucet head is malfunctioning, and I can’t figure out how to take it apart farther than I already have to clean it. The two buttons aren’t working and one of them is stuck in the depressed position, keeping the stream in shower mode. Also, even though I can’t figure still depress the pause button, the stream won’t pause and continues to flow.

Light fittings - can anyone help please?!

Thumbnail

Hello - I hope this post is acceptable here/this is the right place for it.

Bought a house a few years ago, the light fittings in our bathroom have gone one by one, with me being lazy and waiting till the last one went before looking to see what sort of bulb I needed to buy... and ... well, I'm stumped. The transparent glass thing in one picture screws out, leaving nothing that looks at all like a bulb or a light of any kind. Has anyone seen this before? Where do I start trying to replace or fix?

EDIT - thanks to the first three people who replied. Solved!

How to care for a leather chair

Post image
0 Upvotes

Bought this leather chair. It’s an Australian Tessa t4. I’m pretty sure it’s full grain leather or close to. It’s my first leather furniture so I’m scared to ruin it. The leather seems nice but some parts you can tell is a bit dry. The chair is probably manufactured in the 1970s and I’m pretty sure it hasn’t been re-upholstered. I’d like to keep it for decades to come

[Solved] Space heater/fake fireplace

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello folks. Hoping to get some identification and assistance with this dumb space heater

A little bit ago the switch stopped clicking. It feels like whatever lever the outer switch moves broke or bent. Leaving me unable to turn it on. I opened it up hoping to put in a fix but am left unable to remove the switch casing

So I'm hoping someone in here is familiar with them and can either tell me how to get it off or tell me what it's called so I can look it up

Radiator help - noise and heat

Post image
19 Upvotes

I’m unable to post a video here for some reason, but my radiator is making a ridiculous amount of noise. The steam coming out is causing it. I have my radiator knob turned fully off because otherwise it’s about 95°. However, it’s still about 80° in here. My question is, is there anything I can do to make it less hot and also why is there’s so much steam coming out and it’s so noisy? It wasn’t like this in previous years and I’ve lived here for a while.
